With the Department of Education’s vision to bring together all education stakeholders to participate and contribute their time, effort, and resources to prepare public school facilities for the opening of the school year in June, the Ilocos Norte National High School (INNHS) actively participated in the Brigada Eskwela 2019 as it is once again aiming for the Sustainability Award, May 20-25.
INNHS, through the help of the Supreme Student Government (SSG) officers and advisers and teaching and non-teaching staff, conducted its kick off activities at exactly 5:30 AM through the first ever Run-For-A-Cause dubbed as “Kapaligi-RUN 2019” where almost 400 runners participated. It was steered through the “It’s a Parent Thing!” seminar that aimed to orient parents of incoming grade 7 and 11 students on suggested parenting skills and strategies.
A total of Php 4,936,570.84 worth of services and materials (cement, paint, and cleaning materials) were acquired, together with other donations like chairs and electronic devices from private and public individuals and organizations.
To ensure a more organized Brigada Eskwela, participants were grouped into six depending on their area assignments. Mrs. Felicitas Guillermo and Mrs. Rosa Mae Felida Lumbo as Area Coordinators and Mr. Johnstone Corpuz and Mr. Sherween Cabrales as Team Leaders, headed Team A in managing JICA Building, Alumni Building, Main Gate, Façade, and Centennial Park.
Meanwhile, Atty. Sandro Mari N. Obra, IGPTA President, in his Pledge of Commitment, mentioned that despite the limitations of the resources of the organization, it does not fear to implement projects and programs for the betterment of the school. He also enumerated various projects that the IGPTA has realized and will be realizing such as the renovation of all the comfort rooms and construction of drinking fountains and hand-wash areas.
The IGPTA wants the Ilocos Norte National High School to be the first campus that is a Wi-Fi zone without any single cent to be paid by its students,” he also promised. He reiterated that the IGPTA is always ready to support the institution in its programs in all forms.
